Welcome to Gem. A vast expanse of rolling hills and rich green lands tucked away in Western Kenya. It’s our very own dreamland – of breathtaking landscape, diverse flora & fauna, magnificent wildlife, and rich agriculture. The local community in Gem grows coffee, sugarcane, maize, beans and bananas. Coffee growing has been abandoned by most farmers since the only co-operative in the area collapsed. It’s also a place rich with heritage and a touch of legend. One common urban legend is that Gem is the cradle of education in Nyanza, and home to the most number of professors anywhere in Kenya. Truth or myth?
